Areas of Interest

Betrayal Trauma

Betrayal shakes the foundation of our lives. Whether it comes through infidelity, emotional affairs, secret sexual behavior, or long-standing patterns of deception, betrayal trauma strikes at our core. It can leave you questioning what’s real, doubting your own instincts, and feeling completely alone in your pain.

You may be here because something in your life has been ruptured — trust, connection, safety — and despite time passing, you’re still stuck.

Maybe you’ve said to yourself:

  • “I thought I’d be further along by now.”

  • “I can’t seem to get over it, even though I want to.”

  • “I don’t recognize myself anymore.”

These are common experiences in the aftermath of betrayal. The healing process can stall — not because you're weak or broken — but because betrayal trauma cuts deep. It affects not just your thoughts and emotions, but your nervous system, your worldview, and your sense of self.

Healing from betrayal is not a one-size-fits-all process. I offer trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care that honors where you are — and gently supports your growth from there.

My style is compassionate and collaborative. Together, we’ll identify the areas where you feel stuck or overwhelmed and work to:

  • Rebuild your sense of self and internal safety

  • Develop skills to manage intense emotions and triggers

  • Strengthen your boundaries, voice, and intuition

  • Address negative core beliefs shaped by betrayal

  • Clarify your values and reconnect to your wholeness

EMDR

I like to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) into trauma work for clients who are ready to process deeper wounds. I also like to use EMDR to target depression, anxiety, sleep issues, and more.

EMDR is especially effective for:

  • Reducing emotional reactivity and distressing memories

  • Shifting painful self-beliefs (like “I wasn’t enough” or “It’s my fault”)

  • Supporting nervous system regulation

  • Healing both recent and historical trauma that life or relational crises may have resurfaced

You won’t have to relive the trauma in order to heal from it. EMDR offers a structured and gentle way for your brain and body to process what it couldn’t in the moment of crisis.

My Approach
Fees and Insurance

What is your fee?

My fee is $275 for a fifty-minute session.

I use Square to collect payment and put your credit or debit card on file so payment does not cut into our session time.

I offer limited sliding scale spots on a case by case basis.

Do you take insurance?

Please note that I am currently working on transitioning into a private pay practice in 2025 and will no longer take insurance some time during 2026.

If you are already working with me when I am in this transition and you are using your insurance, we can discuss continuing therapy as a private pay client and using your Out-Of-Network benefits from your insurance company. Meanwhile, you can read more about this below.

I currently participate with the following insurance carriers:

HMAA

HMSA (BCBS Hawaii)

HMSA Quest

UHA (University Health Alliance)

Kaiser Permanente Health Plan of Hawaii

Medicare

Here's how you can use OUT-OF-NETWORK benefits to reduce your out of pocket expenses:

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a receipt called a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Every insurance is different so please check with your insurance company regarding reimbursement rates.

If you’d like to use out of network benefits, here are some questions you can ask your insurance company to help determine coverage they may provide:

  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for mental health (or Behavioral Health)?

  • What is my deductible and how much has already been met?

  • What is my out of pocket payment before my deductible is met?

  • What percentage of the fee for each visit will be covered?

  • How many mental health sessions per calendar year does my insurance plan cover?

  • How do I obtain reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
